Books
Jan 12 - Snåsamannen by Ingar Sletten Kolloen - The story of Joralf Gjerstad, one of Norway's most well-known healers/psychics. ♥
Mar 03 - One Hundred Years of Solitude - Too sprawling for me to fully get into it, I'm sad to say, though there were some very well written passages.
Mar 11 - Life of Pi by Yann Martel - Fabulous book! I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a long time. ♥♥♥
Mar 21 - After the Quake by Haruki Murakami. Shortstory collection. ♥♥
Apr 4 - Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill - Complete page-turner with a creepy villain and great characters all around. Loved it to the very end. ♥♥♥
Apr 14 - Infected by Scott Sigler - Fun Invasion of the Bodysnatcherish book, and an interesting look at one man's steep decline into complete insanity. A good read, no bout-a-doubt it. ♥♥
Apr 30 - Mama Day by Glory Maylor - Sassy and full of heart and history. ♥♥
May 03 - I Am Legend by Richard Matheson - Liked the first two thirds of the movie-version better than the book, but the book went out with a bang. ♥
May 29 - Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy - Difficult to get into, due to lack of dialog and the dialog missing quotation marks when it did appear. ♥

Graphic Novels

TV series
Freaks and Geeks - I can't believe they canceled this show. It's about teenagers that actually act like teenagers. Believable dialog, great characters, excellent humor. I loved how the grownups got to play as well. ♥♥♥

RE:Firefly - I've already seen it, but I'm now geeking up a couple of friends of mine. It seems to be taking hold \o/ ♥♥

The Office(US) s2 - So far, so good. Man I love Dwight. Pam/Jim does not intrest me at all... ok, so the phonemessages at the end of that one ep got me a bit, but then it faded again. ♥♥♥

Supernatural s4.5 - Wating to see this one play out. Not bad though, not bad. - Actually, getting better and better. If they can carry the finish off, this will be a very strong season. ♥♥♥

Battlestar Galactica s4.5 - The show that should come with a bottle of uppers. Right now I'm bracing myself for the bodycount that's bound to happen. They just better not touch my Agathons! Six being all friendly with the kid like in the sketches is making me nervous. And Tyrol is all sad and he needs Boomer to come back so they can have closure(not expecting a happy one. This is BSG). And Boomer needed to not have had a lobotomy, but that didn't happen. Not fully satesfied with this ending, no sir. It did seem certain episodes devolved into having the "SPN roadside confession/breakdown" every third scene or so. ♥

Flight of the Conchords s2 - The Tough Bretts! \o/ (stay cool) Lots of new songs here that got stuck on my brain. ♥♥

Big Love s3 - Getting bigger... ♥♥♥

Dollhouse s1 - Did it fall asleep? For a little while, but it got better. Just not great. ♥

Sarah Connor Chronicles s2.5 - YES! This is good television. All the characters are on interesting journeys and are being explored piece by piece ♥♥♥

The Office(US) s3 - Yay. Love the new chick. She actually says it out loud when she likes a guy(imagine that), pretend-drinks and kicks ass at computer games. Of course, she finds other ways to be sad, because everyone is. Pam/jim still bores me like a really borning thing. Can't there just be a friendship and screwing around with Dwight? ♥♥♥

The Office(US) s4 - New chick is gone, but Ryan is a bigger douchebag with hisdumbassness and beardy face. Hah. ♥♥

Medium s3 - Really went out with a bang, didn't it? Still annoyed at their cronic stupidity when it comes to her dreams, but then I always watched it for the domestic stuff anyways. ♥♥

Breaking Bad s1 -

Farscape s1 - Been hearing so much about Aeryn Sun, I am now giving this a go.

Vacations/Trips
30.01 - 02.02 - First trip up to the cabin.
06.02 - 09.02 - Second trip up to cabin. Met brother's gf C.

My favorite take on post s4 fanfic so far. Original, and an interesting format.

Finally home, and now it's time for my Summer vacation :D

Dodgy connection at best these past few days, so I'm a bit behind. hehe almost scared to check my flist. Having the internet back at land speed sure is swell though. Finally got to check a few of the things I bookmarked at sea.

The fanmade Green Lantern trailer starring Nathan Fillion was a bang just like people said. Very impressive that someone cobbled it together on their own.

A couple of my friends and a few more have come together and created [info]spnwriterlounge. They have something happening every day, and judging by the surge of members it'll stay nice and active in the time to come :)

My Innocent Smoothie Recipe Book had arrived in the mail, and it's super cozy. Has great pictures throughout, and fun stuff like the wee-ometer and the while-u-wait workout with stickfigure instructions. I've been planning to start making smoothies for some time now. Hopefully this is just the bootk my behind needs to get going.

Here's a couple of small samples )

And, last but not least, I finally got my mitts on my shiny new iPhone *flails about a bit* Yes, it is indeed pretty. Still haven't gotten to use it much since I've been snooping around for apps and then organizing them. There's tons of free ones out there, so I'm just trying to find the ones I think I'll be using. The only one I plan on paying for is the Office suite, so I'll be able to create docs on my iPhone, as well as transfer and edit the ones I already have on my laptop.

As is I've tried out a few games, plus a step counter app for when I went jogging earlier. 870 walking steps and 3249 running steps, clocking in at 7:25 minutes of moderate exercise and 23 minutes of vigurous exercise for those of you who probably weren't wondering.

I may become app-noxious for some time ahead, something I know not everyone will app-reciate. I'd app-ologize, but well... you all see where this is going :p

The truth about the world, he said, is that anything is possible. Had you not seen it all from birth and thereby bled it of its strangeness it would appear to you for what it is, a hat trick in a medicine show, a fevered dream, a trance bepopulated with chimeras having neither analogue nor precedent, an intinerant carnival, a migratory tentshow whose ultimate destination, after many a pitch in many a muddled field is unspeakable and calamitous beyond reckoning.

The universe is no narrow thing and the order within it is not constrained by any latitude in its conception to repeat what exists in one part in any other part. Even in this world more things exist without our knowledge than with it and the order in creation which you see is that which you have put there, like a string in a maze, so that you shall not lose your way. For existence has its own order and that no man’s mind can compass, that mind itself being but a fact among others.

Doods!! Guess who just bought herself an iPhone? Ok, so me posting this is kind of a big hint, but yay \o/

I know I'll be able to read eBooks on it, as well as fanfic so that should help on my epic 'to read' list, it's got GPS which is great because I can get lost just about anywhere, and I know there are apps that will let me use lj and such.

So tell me, have you ever had your hands on one? If you own one, what are your favorite apps? Share share! I need some info, so once I stop running around in circles I can start looking around :D

[info]femme_fic Has begun posting their fics. Lots to dig your teeth into :)

Misha Collins is giving me the lulz with the pony blood and political RPS shipping. Now, he couldn't have found out about the political thing from experiencing the SPN fandom, so he must have been reading around some(Y/Y)

In less yay-tastic news, the garbage incinerator on board broke down, and so now I am sorting all the trash. Lamepants.

And wendy made me want to get an iPohone. I do not need an iPhone *puts on repeat for brain*

The new series 'V' that's hitting ABC midseason sounds very interesting, and judging from the two upfront clips it is looking very promising indeed. Morena Baccarin(Inara from Firefly) does a very good job being a creepy alien, and Alan Tyduk's in the series as well(though not the clips).

I think one of my Very Big Buttons is characters that behave in an alien-esque sort of way. Just general wrongness will do :p

Speaking of which, still so very very sad that the Sarah Connor Chronicles didn't get picked up by FOX. I still think they made a wrong bet with that one, as this summer could have boosted their numbers considerably. I'm holding a small hope that SciFi(or is it SyFy now?) will be in more of a gambling mode.

I'll be sending a mail to SciFi to let them know that I'm still very much interested in the show. You can do so too, at feedback@scifi.com

Dollhouse has been renewed for a second season. Well, thirteen more episodes at least. Here's to hoping Alpha will get to show up and be unstable again, and I will seriously hunt someone down if Victor goes poof.

I'm still clinging to the small hope that SCC will be able to ride on the shirttails of the new terminator flick and also be given a third season *prays*

Icon totally unrelated, but it is shiny and new and gives me the lulz :p

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

Fishery's been going to badly for us this trip we're actually now heading for the docks to unload before heading north and trying our luck there. What does this mean? I get today and tomorrow at home, because we don't leave again until Monday.

So I checked the local cinema listings. Didn't really hold much hope, but what do I see? Why, Wolverine and Star Trek is playing \o/

Every Time Is The First Time by vehemently.

If Kyle had had a living brother when he came through, he probably would have mentioned it. John's heard the stories from his mother a hundred times: about the dogs, and daily life living in tunnels and ruins, and The Great John Connor doing this and that. Never anything about a brother. Mom always said he was kind of strange, kind of unused to other people. Kyle Reese was alone, and maybe that helped him leave everything and everyone he'd ever known behind on a one-way trip into the past.

So it's very likely that Derek was already dead. John thinks he was. He thinks about it a lot.

Eschatology by [info]charlie_d_blue.

John forgets himself sometimes, slips into something resembling friendship with Allison. It’s hard not to. She is a singularly appealing person, with a wicked sense of humour, and a fierce loyalty. And she likes John, which is more than he could ever say for sure about Cameron.

He’s the one who suggests she start going on missions rather than just running support and med duty. She takes to it a like a fish to water, and the first time John walks into a room to see her cleaning an M-16 with familiar efficiency, cheek stained with grease, he has to walk straight back out again, stomach churning.

I think of her hair as black as coal, her lips, redder than blood, her skin, snow-white. But he kept talking to it quietly, and after a while his hand rested on the warm neck and he was moving his fingers gently, scratching and caressing. Then he lowered the glass and watched with his naked eyes and then he raised it and looked again. They near the graveyard within the circle of live oaks and move down into time. On the stairs, there was a clear, plain silence.
